The Dumfries Town Board is pleased to announce that following confirmation from UK Government that our “Dumfries Pride in Place Plan” has been formally endorsed, the Board is now progressing into the delivery phase.
The report outlines a clear vision for the future of Dumfries, highlighting key themes that will guide investment and activity as part of the Pride in Place programme. It reflects the feedback from local residents, partners and stakeholders which has helped shape the plan for the town’s future.
Following a robust selection process aligned with the report’s priorities and funding availability, successful applicants have been notified. Further details on the funded projects will be shared in due course.
As part of our ongoing engagement, the Board will also be hosting a series of drop-in sessions to provide an opportunity for local people to learn more about the projects we are taking forward, ask questions, and understand how the plan is beginning to take shape on the ground.
The Dumfries Town Board remains committed to maintaining strong engagement with the community and ensuring that delivery is visible, inclusive and impactful from the outset.

Programme Manager, Joanne Johnstone says “This endorsement marks a major milestone for Dumfries. It shows that our long-term vision is not only ambitious but achievable. We now move into the next phase – working at pace to ensure projects are progressed, funded, and delivered. The Town Board is committed to building momentum and making sure the opportunities ahead translate into real change on the ground.”
Secretariat, Isabelle Johnstone says “It’s amazing news that the report has been signed off as its includes Dumfries Shine and paves the way we grow our community engagement over the next 10 years.”
